We went back to Avanos to Galip's mother's kilim collection. We had 2 presentations on the kilims and the symbolism used in the kilim weaving. Galip's mother demonstrated how wool is carded and spun on different drop spindles. Will was the first to volunteer to try spinning. He was really good. we than saw how many different house hold can be made with kilims. horse blankets, goat salt bags, cradles, camel bags, vests... almost every thing one need to have in a house can be made with kilims. |
