If you plan to arrive a few days before the tour to get over jet lag we can reserve a room at Hotel Ayasofya (Single US$50, Double US$70)

We can suggest itineraries for those who want to explore on their own or with a guide before or after the tour. Simply send us an e-mail with your request.

In case of unexpected delay or change of flight, should there be a problem in meeting the person who should be waiting for you at the airport please call Hotel Ayasofya at 0212-51694-46 or Asli at 0533 368 3113 take a taxi to Hotel Ayasofya. Your taxi fare will be refunded.

Arrival at Istanbul Airport:

After you walk out of the plane in Istanbul, follow the baggage claim sign. Before you  get in line for police check, proceed to visa booth. The visa booth is very clearly marked. It only takes few seconds to pay the visa. Continue to the police check. After your passport is stamped, you will walk down a short ramp. There you will see a monitor with information of which lane you should go to pick the luggage. Should you need a cart, there is a charge for the cart.
They accept every currency. It will be nice to have couple of dollars ( Canadian - US does not make a difference) as they might not have change.

After you pck up your luggage, you walk out the customs gate where you will see many people waiting for their arriving party. It might seem confusing but please check every sign that is being held. The sign you are looking for should read

We recommend you to change some money at the air port. Our transfer-man speaks enough English. Please mention to him that you want to go to a bank or use and ATM. After you leave the terminal you will walk to  the covered parking place.

Hotel Ayasofya is approximately 25 minutes from the air port. If there is heavy traffic it might take a little longer.

After you check in your room, if you have a problem with the room, please do not wait for your guide to assist you. The desk at the hotel is very helpful. Let them know! 

The hotel has bottled water. You can buy water from the hotel or you can go to the grocery shop at the bottom of the hill - 30 meters, 100 ft, from the hotel.

The tour will start at 05:00 pm on April 12th, 2008. If the tour had started when you arrive at the hotel, the hotel will bring you to either the Blue Mosque or to dinner so you can join the group. Please check with the desk. You will find a note from MELITOUR.
