Meli with the Imam of
the mosque |
||
This morning we walked to a mosque where
Meli lectured on Rumi. We were joined by four Turkish women and it was
interesting to hear their views on topics. To the delight of Meli, and the
rest of us, the Imam served us tea. After the mosque and lecture, we went to Melvana's Tomb where I particularly founds the fabrics and weavings of so long ago of great interest. We loaded on the bus and headed to Antalya by way of the Taurus Mountains. We saw several herds of cashmere goats with their nomadic herders. We also saw two to three black tents and according to Meli, this is a way of life that is becoming extinct. While enroute, Pam shared her experiences while in Morocco and her foray into Sufism. Very interesting. We stopped in jewelry showroom where Meli's son worked. Several lovely pieces of jewelry were purchased by Pamela (earrings) and Susannah (necklace and earrings). Hotel in Antalya (Atelya Pansiyon) is a big hit with a beautiful courtyard and cats for Pamela. All the rooms were named after Sultans (mine was named Cem). The photo of the sultan on the CD was from my room. Dinner was "on your own". Leona |
