FROM   THE   ATLANTIC  OCEAN  TO THE SAHARA DESERT
With Meli and Haji
Submitted By Pat and Julia Day 10 Agadir Asseouira

Today is Moroccan Independence Day. We leave Taroudant, taking a major highway, Soon we begin seeing Argan trees and in about 30 minutes we
find a goat herder and goats festing up in the Argan trees eating the leave and nuts. Resuming the trip, Argan groves continue for many miles. We also pass near Al

Massira airport, which Haj tells us many Europeans arrive in Morocco and go to Agadir, which has many seaside resort hotels. We stop in Agadir at the Royal Atals Hotel and Spa for a break, and then on to Resturant Rugantino. Spaghetti Bolognaise and Pasta Fruti de Mar are a departure from the traditional cuisine we have been enjoying.kicc

Back on the road, we view the harbor. Fishing boats occupy the old part of the harbor, whereas the Morocccan navy and cruise ship anchor in the newer part. At a photo op stop along the sea shore, we discover a group of women who are roasting and cleaning freshly gathered mussels, which they sell to the resort restaurants. We continue our journey, briefly stopping for Haj to buy us some local bananas as an afternoon snack.

We arrive at the Hotel Des Iles in Essaouira, which is right on the beach.
