FROM   THE   ATLANTIC  OCEAN  TO THE SAHARA DESERT

                                  We meet at 0900 and start a brief orientation tour of the harbor and medina in Essaouira. The medina walls are a very short walk
from our hotel, and the harbor is close as well. We start at the harbor. Many of the blue fishing boats have already left, but quite a few are back with today’s catch. The boat
yard and dry dock are active with shipbuilding and repair as well as fishermen selling the freshly caught seafood.

From there, we walk through the medina to what is left of the old ramparts, overlooking the Atlantic.
A few cannons are still there. From the top, we
 have a great view of the ocean and the edge of the medina. We now have the rest of the day to roam on our own, in the medina or along the beach.
