It’s
Friday morning and our journey is coming to an end. Today we
make our last trek as a group, the destination, Marrakesh.
While our group waits in the lobby to walk to lunch, a Bell Hop
runs up to Tom and Nancy with the robe and slacks they forgot
in the closet.

After
a delicious lunch of kefta tagine at the Mogadour Restaurant,
we pile in the bus and make our way through the winding argan
forests. As we approach the seaside Jerry yells “photo stop”
like usual Haj and Abduhl miss the stop and pull off elsewhere,
in this case it was to our benefit. We stumbled upon some local
women shelling mussels. They were very adamant about pictures
not being taken of them, but I snuck a couple in.

At our next stop after
careful inspections and a taste test, Haj returns to the bus
with a bag full of bananas. He obviously has had plenty of
practice because they are absolutely wonderful.
Our journey continues to
the Argan Cooperative where we are taught the stages of
production for Argan oil and all the benefits of this magical
little seed.
Finally, we arrive at
Hotel Andalous. After a quick rest we all meet back at the bus
to be taken to the famous square Djemaa El Fna where we are on
our own for dinner. Prior to arriving we are warned to watch
our valuables and keep an eye on our pockets. Meli’s
description of organized chaos is quite accurate; the hustle
and bustle, the hordes of people surrounding entertainers
throughout the square, and dozens of food carts lined up. It’s
a good thing we only had an hour and a half before meeting back
with the group because one can only handle so much input.
